Soldiers and Airmen Relief Fund

The Soldiers and Airmen Relief Fund was established by the National Guard Association of Rhode Island in 1997 to provide emergency financial assistance grants to any member of the Rhode Island National Guard who fit the following grant criteria.

Grant Criteria

  • Any current or retired member in good standing of the Rhode Island National Guard and their immediate family (spouse and/or children) are eligible for consideration.
  • The Committee will consider requests for Emergency Shelter, Food, Clothing, and Transportation emergencies caused by Natural Disasters or Acts of God.  Medical bills (not drug related) which exceed insurance limits and burial expenses for indigent former members
  • The Committee can authorize up to $1,000 by majority vote. Financial Assistance will be in the form of a grant to be paid to the individual

Wounded Warrior Program

NGARI has partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The WWP raises awareness and enlists public aid for the needs of severely injured service members and to help them aid and assist each other. It provides unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
